The studios located on Mountain View drive in Colchester, Vermont and share this studio with sister channel WFFF-TV. It established in 1968, and the first show of WVNY aired 50 years ago on 19 August 1968. The call letter meaning of the network is “Vermont/New York”.

History
The channel was started with call letters WVNY on 19 August 1968. The studio was located on Hegeman Avenue in Colchester at that time. The call letters changed into WEZF-TV in 1974 and again switched back to WVNY in 1982. Citadel Communications purchased the station from International TV Corporation in 1982. In 1995 Citadel sold WVNY and WMGC in Binghamton to US broadcast group.
In 1998 Straightline Communications owned the station. After Lambert Broadcasting, WVNY became the sister channel of WFFF-TV in 2005 and entered into the local marketing agreement with Smith Media which was the owner of its sister channel. Mission Broadcasting acquired the station from Lambert Broadcasting on 5 November 2012.
As well as Nexstar Broadcasting Group purchased the sister channel WFFF-TV from Smith Media, It also operated all Mission Broadcasting. The FCC approved the sale on 14 January 2013 that had completed on March 1. An announcement made that both channels will become part of the Nexstar group and join a cluster of television stations including ABC affiliated stations. Now Nexstar is operating 81 stations of different broadcasting including WVNY and WFFF-TV.
