History

The station was started operation on 30 August 1953 and at this time, owned by the Ackers family. Ackers family had purchased the construction permit along KRBC radio from Harte Hanks communications, a few months earlier. The network carried four station services in which NBC, CBS, ABC, and DuMont included. But the primary affiliation of KRBC-TV was with NBC and in 1956, CBS affiliation lost.

KACB-TV started services as semi satellite channel of KRBC in 1962. The station had remained under the ownership of Ackers family’s broadcast holdings, Abilene Radio and Television Company for 44 years. In 1997, sunrise Television bought the network, and after two years, the connection severed between KRBC and KABC, due to this KACB became the full-fledged station, called KSAN-TV. Sunrise merged with LIN Television in 2002, and in 2003 KRBC sold to Mission broadcasting by LIN.

Mission Broadcasting contracted with Nexstar Media Group for providing services under the shared sales agreement. The main transmission of KRBC-TV was dropped for 13 hours due to an ice storm on 14 January 2007. The tower and analog antenna, low power digital transmission antenna had stopped.  The station engineers get back air signals of the station by using an auxiliary antenna. The microwave link of KLST and KSAN also destroyed in San Angelo, and then Nexstar fixed set a dual path fiber optic cable link in December 2007. KTAB and KRBC are working under combined site from May 2007 and providing services to Abilene and the surrounding area.
