History
On 20 September 1956, Southwest States Inc. and real estate firm Estate Development filed an application to FCC for obtaining a license of commercial television on Channel. The radio owner of KLYN, Kenyon Brown and Wichita Falls who the owner of KWFT applied separately for channel 7 license. On 1 August 1957, FCC granted the construction permit to the Southern States for channel 7. So, the group received approval of station with call letters KVII-TV. On 21 December 1957, the station signed as the third television network in the Amarillo market.
It made one of smallest markets in the United States which maintain full-time service broadcasting with all other two networks in August 1988. Southwest States Inc. sold out the station to Television Properties Inc. on 28 June 1958. FCC approved the sale after one month on 16 July 1961.
Southwest States Inc. announced the sale of the network to the Walton group on 1 August 1953 and FCC approved the sale on 12 November after three and a half month. Furthermore, The Walton Group declared the sale to Amarillo based Marsh Media Ltd in October 1967. The sale completed on 31 January 1968. New Vision Group purchased the station from Marsh Media for $16.85 on 26 August 2002. After that, on 7 April 2005, the Vision Group announced the sale of the station to Barrington Broadcasting for $22.5 million.
