KSKN-TV launched on Oct 1, 1983 is a CW affiliate broadcasting in Spokane and also covering Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Owned by Tegna Inc, the channel shares duopoly with KREM, a CBS affiliate in the area. The two sisters are located on South Regal Street in Spokane. The transmitter of the channel is located on Southeast of Spokane. It can be watched in HD on Comcast Xfinity in Spokane area and is also available on Charter Spectrum Ch 1212 in Coeur d’Alene Area in Palouse.

History
KSKN was launched on Oct 1, 1983 as an independent station; it was a competitor to KAYU-TV. It would broadcast a general entertainment format that included cartoons, sitcoms, movies, dramas and religious programming. As an independent competitor to KAYU, it initially recorded good ratings however, due to overspending on the content incurred financial losses prompting its original owners to file for bankruptcy in summer of 1985. It scaled down its broadcasts and reduced the strong syndicated content. KSKN was released in the fall of 1985; the new owners invested fairly good to bring back stronger content lost by the previous ownership. However, the financial suffering of the channel didn’t stop and it filed again for bankruptcy in April 1987. It stated carrying home shopping programs for 15 hours and some religious content and cartoons for 9 hours but went dark in July 1987. The channel returned to the airs with HSN on its lineups and broadcasted 24×7. It carried religious and educational programs for kids on Sundays.
KSKN entered into an LMA with KREM in Dec 1995 owned by The Providence Journal Company. It carried HSN programs with the exception of morning and afternoon hours which was the time dedicated for kids block. It became an affiliate of United Paramount Network: UPN in 1996. The channel was relaunched in early 1997 and programming was overhauled. HSN was scaled back and was truncated to overnights with daytime programming consisting of sitcoms, cartoons, reality and talk shows. It joined The WB as its secondary affiliate in 1999 but aired both networks i.e. UPN and The WB until 2002 when it dropped a fulltime primary WB affiliate. Cartoons were gradually dropped down and the channel was bought by Belo in Oct 2001 as it had already purchased Providence Journal. Upon the merge of The WB and UPN to form The CW, KSKN on April 10, 2007 signed its affiliation with the new Television Network. It was purchased by Gannet on Dec 23, 2013 and became its first CW-affiliate. KSKN also became the maiden station in the area to broadcast local news through its sister KREM in Sep 2014. After the split of Gannet into two arms, KSKN became a Tegna station.
