History
The channel 12 slot was previously used by KUSU-TV for an educational service maintained by Utah State University that was on air from 1964 to 1970. The original calls of KUTF belonged to the CW affiliate in Portland/Salem which later became KRCW-TV. The channel was established on June 9, 2000 and signed on air on Jan 1, 2001. At one point of time, it would simulcast on a low-power analog service K45GX in Salt Lake City. However, there is none now as the Federal Communications Commission regulations no longer require a translator. Before June 2009, it maintained its status as a Spanish-language TV owned by Equity Media Holdings and affiliated with TeleFutura. In an auction bid the channel as passed to Daystar on April 16, 2009. Its analog transmissions aborted on June 12, 2009 and its former sister: KUTH-DT became a Univision station.
