History
Wichita Falls-Lawton market was contested by Thornberry TV Ltd. And First City Media, Inc. for a construction permit for an independent television. In Aug 1984, Thornberry eventually got its hands on KJTL after the approval of Federal Communications Commission. The channel hit the waves on May 14, 1954 from Call Field Road studios in Wichita Falls while its original transmitter was installed near Grandfield, Oklahoma.
Wichita Falls Television became the new owner of the service in Aug 1986 but later sold the channel to BSP Broadcasting on May 11, 1989. In Sep 1994 it became a 24-hour broadcaster but was sold to Wicks Broadcast Group on Aug 31, 1995 after the approval of Federal Communications Commission. Mission Broadcasting would purchase the channel on Jan 6, 1996 for USD 15.5mn. Nexstar took control of KJBO and KJTL on June 1, 1999 under JSA and SSA. The two channels then relocated to KFDX studios on Seymour Highway and Turtle Creek Road. It was branded as Fox Texoma in Sep 2002 and was renamed Texoma’s Fox in Sep 2011.
