History
WSYT (Channel 68) originated with call letters WKAF in 1986. The first show aired on 15 February 1986 and aired religious programming for three hours daily. Flatley Company bought the station in late 1986 and station started all kind of services on 5 April 1987.
WSYT (Channel 68) remained under the ownership of WSYT until 1992. And then sold to Encore Communications which also known as Max Media. After that Sinclair Broadcasting purchased the station in 1998, and entered into an agreement with UPN affiliate WNYS-TV in 1995. Both studios share studios for their operations.
On 17 February 2009, WSYT and WNYS-TV started digital transmission. The Country Network is the second digital sub-channel of WSYT, launched on 1 November 2010. Sinclair and Fox made five years agreement with Sinclair’s nineteen Fox-affiliated stations on 15 May 2012 and continued their programming through 2017.
Sinclair announced the sale of WSYT due to the Federal Communications Commission’s ownership rules. Northwest Broadcasting bought the station and all transactions completed on 25 November 2013.
