History
KFXK hit the waves on Sep 9, 1984 as KLMG-TV and was originally a CBS affiliate. Clara McLaughlin who happen to be the first ever African American woman to hold a television station in US, was the owner of the service. It then acquired a vacant school building located near interstate 20 in Longview and converted it into a studio facility for the station. The channel changed its calls to KFXK in April 1991 and signed an affiliation agreement with Fox.
Communications Corporation of America which owned KFXK on April 24, 2013 announced to release its television assets to Nexstar and its partner Mission Broadcasting with KETK being sold to the former and KTPN and KFXK to the latter to comply with Federal Communications Commission rules. However, Mission withdrew its application to purchase the channel and while in the meantime Nexstar operated both the siblings through shared services agreement, the sale consummated on Jan 1, 2015. USD 4m renovation and restructuring of studios was announced by Nexstar in Nov 2017. It converted into a digital broadcasting facility on June 12, 2009 and the digital signal of KFXK remained on its pre-transition slot UHF Ch 31.
