History
KWLY went on air on Oct 31, 1985 as second commercial television in eastern Wyoming was the first channel to hit the waves since the inception of KGWN in 1954. Soon after its launch, it signed affiliation with Fox beating out KDVR in the process. It also maintained secondary affiliation with UP until the closure of the network in Sep 2006. It also operated two translators K11RN and K26ES in Douglas and Casper before converting them into UPN and CW affiliates in 2004 and 2006 respectively. As of now K26ES (now KWFY-LD) is linked with MyNetworkTV and MeTV and is simulcasted on the 3rd digital sub-channel of KLWY in Cheyenne. The station (KLWY) underwent digital transition on Feb 17, 2009. It does not maintain a website and airs no local newscasts of its own. The only news-bulletin carried by it is the rebroadcast of Good Morning Wyoming sponsored by Casper-based KTWO-TV. In return it runs the KTWO’s content and clears ABC programming through its digital sub-channel via simulcast.
Wyomedia Corporation looking to sell the stations to Legacy Broadcasting in Feb 2018 but the deal that would create a duopoly between KTWO and KFNB was rejected by Federal Communications Commission and was cancelled on Oct 2, 2018 due to the objections of the authority.
