WBUP is an ABC affiliate broadcasting in Ishpeming, Michigan and owned by Marks Radio Group. It shares duopoly with WBKP and the two sisters are headquartered on Ash Street in Ishpeming Township. The transmitter of WBUP is installed south o Ely Township in unincorporated Marquette County. Charter Spectrum is the cable carrier of the television. WBUP’s over the air signal is available in Keweenaw Peninsula and is simulcast in HD on WBKP’s 2nd digital sub-station from a transmitter near Painesdale.

History
Ishpeming’s ABC station WBKP setup a repeater fin Aug 1997; W28BX used ch 28 in Marquette to broadcast the whole city. Since over the air transmission through the LP signal was weak, the channel could only be received in Negaunee and Marquette. Established on March 6, 2000, the channel was officially launched on Jan 2, 2003 as a fulltime satellite called WBUP. A full-powered analog signal was lu8cnehd on VHF ch 10 and the on-air branding of the broadcast relay station was ABC 5&10. WBUP was released by original owners Scanlan family in Jan 2004 to Lake Superior Community Broadcasting. The duo WBKB and WBUP split with the WBKP in July 2017 and signed an affiliation agreement with CW.
The broadcast signal of WBUP was intruded by a hacker on Feb 11, 2013 and a false emergency alert system message was put on the television. The hacker was arrested 7 days later and sentenced to 6 month probation. It completed analog to digital transition on June 12, 2009. Syndicated programs offered by the channel include Entertainment Tonight and Modern Family.
