History

WCWF signed on air on Feb 22, 1984 as WSCO-TV, an independent station that broadcasted religious programming under the original ownership of Northeastern Wisconsin Christian Television Incorporated. Due to financial issues WSCO went silent in 1987. The license of the channel was acquired by VCY America as it would made its on-air return in 1993 as a new sibling of WVCY-TV. It was acquired by Paxson Communications on April 30, 1997; the religious and home shopping service was converted into a paid programming format. WSCO turned into a charter O&O service of Pax TV (later Ion) and the calls were changed to WPXG.

Paxson released the service to ACME Communications on June 2, 1999; it immediately signed with WB under the new ownership and calls were changed to WIMB branded as WB 14. LIN TV Corporation in June 2014 revealed its agreement to operate WIWB through shared services and JS agreements. The two station according to the latter would have joint advertising sales operations. LIN TV bought WIWB in Sep 2010. The ownership transfer was approved by Federal Communications Commission in April 2011. LIN TV after acquisition of the ACME asset made quick changes by moving its operations from Parkview Plaza Strip mall to WLKUK facility on Lombardi Avenue. In Aug and Sep 2010, the branding was changed to CW14 and calls were changed to WCWF. The syndicated programming was upgraded in HD as of fall of 2010. The ownership took over the website of WCWF operated by ACME in Nov 2010. LIN Media in March 2014 merged with Media General which sold WCWF and WLUK to Sinclair in 2014.
