WMVS launched on Oct 28, 1957 is a Milwaukee-based television service affiliated with PBS and owned by Milwaukee Area Technical College. WMVT: Ch 36 is the sister of the service the duo is branded as Milwaukee PBS. The siblings share studio space at the Continuing Education Center on the Milwaukee Area Technical College campus on North 8th Street in downtown Milwaukee. Transmitter of the channel is installed on North Humboldt Boulevard in Milwaukee’s Estabrook Park neighborhood.

History
WMVS hit the waves as 28th educational TV service in US on Oct 28, 1957 and was the second to operate in the state of Wisconsin after WHA-TV Madison. The call sign represented: Milwaukee Vocational School. Frank Zeidler among others is considered as the strong sponsor of the station upon its launch. In 2007 Milwaukee Public Television celebrated its 50th anniversary. In Sep 2010 on-air branding was changed to Milwaukee Public Television, Channel 10-HD which was changed to Milwaukee PBS in Dec 2016. The studios of the Milwaukee PBS are located in the Continuing Education Center of MATC Downton Campus, at 1036 North 8th Street. The analog signal was shut down by the service on June 12, 2009 in favor of digital signal which resumed transmission on pre-transition VHF Ch 8.
Programming
The annual funding drive conducted in May is broadcasted in HD since 2003. The locally produced eekly programs include Interchange, I Remember, Track Ahead, Outdoor Wisconsin, Black Nouveau and ¡Adelante!
