History
The construction permit of WNYI issued in December 1999 and first test show aired in 2002. Caroline Pawley purchased the station in June 2003, and then Equity Broadcasting in 2004. Time Warner Cable carried access in May 2005 in Syracuse. WNYI (Channel 52) was tried to increase in licensed power but no decision made by the Federal Communications Commission. Channel 52 was the only station which providing Spanish language programming in upstate New York. Daystar changed the programming after the auction by U.S. Bankruptcy Court on 16 April 2009. Due to low impact on viewers, Univision’s national feed returned to Time Warner Cable. So, WNYI (Chanel 52) remained affiliated with Univision from 2002 to 2009.
